Mastery – The ability to reliably perform a task or skill to a high standard and adapt to the circumstances imposed upon them and demonstrate a deep knowledge and understanding in a domain.
Recipes can be superb. A good recipe is step by step instructions on how to create an excellent dish, typically created by an experienced cook or chef that has a deep understanding of cooking, baking and the culinary experience.
A recipe is a process that we implement. However, we all know that recipes usually take more than one attempt to get right and even still a true chef will almost definitely do it better than we can. Beyond a simple recipe a chef can improvise depending on what is available, substituting one ingredient for another or adjusting to a myriad of other challenges they may face. Their impressive depth of knowledge and skill all but guarantees that whatever context they are in, they will provide an excellent dish.
Focus on the processes in your life and how to improve them whether that be how you do presentations, clean the dishes, do the laundry or write reports. If you continue to improve these processes not only will the outcome improve but the process will become faster and easier.
When we have mastered the process, we need only to act, and the outcome will be inevitable.
